Kurtis Kelly-Summer Enchanted Evening

Hey everyone!

 

The Baldpate Inn proudly presents local favorite, Kurtis Kelly as he revives a medley of historic characters. Librarian and performer, Kurtis returns this year to our Summer Enchanted Evenings series with more stories and re-enactments of Lord Dunraven,  Abner Sprague,  Enos Mills, and a few other Estes Park historical figures.

Just as old-time radio awakened the magic of storytelling, for more than a dozen years, Kurtis Kelly has delighted audiences as he celebrates story telling through his work vividly portraying the spirit of these plucky pioneers and historically significant celebrities.

"Hearing history from a first-person perspective allows it to come alive," Kelly says. "Through storytelling and personal anecdotes, we feel a familiar connection to these individuals that makes us appreciate them with renewed interest and new insights."

 This delightful talk will take place September 11, at 7:00 PM in the Key Room at The Baldpate Inn.  As with all our Summer Enchanted Evening events, admission is free.

This event is part of our Summer Enchanted Evenings series that runs from June through September.  Our Wednesday evening series is part history, part natural history, and part show & tell. Soup and Scottish Fest!

Hey everyone!
It's a beautiful day here at The Baldpate! The sun is out and shinning and the temperature is perfect. It's days like these that I am extra grateful I'm only a few minutes away from Lilly Lake and its magnificent scenery. I hope everyone had a chance to go to the Scottish festival and experience such a unique and fun culture! My coworker and I were able to go for a bit and we had so much fun! I especially liked the food, which I helped myself to more then once! If you're like me and like to try a plethora of different things, when you eat, come join us for lunch or dinner! Summer Enchanted Evening!

Hey everyone, it's finally here!   

 

      Ever wanted to visit faraway lands but just never have the time or funds to do so?

We here at the Baldpate Inn understand that the travel bug is a pandemic that affects

certain people worldwide whose longing for adventures abroad are not being medicated.

In our efforts to cure your growing pains, we hope that you can make it for our “Summer

Enchanted Evenings” talk on September 4th, entitled “Keys to the Nations”. Presented by

Baldpate Key Room museum curator, Cameron Hubbard, you will learn about the

Baldpate’s connection to seven locales, which range from royal to exotic, around the

globe through the international keys which have been graciously donated to us

throughout our history.

 

      The first stop on our world tour will be across the pond in Merry Ol’ England,

where we will stop and see the famous Westminster Abbey Church and say hello along

the way to British royalty at Buckingham Palace. While we are in England, we might as

well take a little nature walk through Sherwood Forest, which has connections to the

legend of Robin Hood among other things. Our Euro-tour does not end here, as we still

have to see the Wilanow Palace in Poland and get goose bumps from Bran Castle, which

has links to the legend of Dracula. From here we will hope down and use our Key to

West Africa and unlock its gates, with our end stop being at the Tomb of the Caliphs in

Cairo, Egypt, where the former Egyptian ruler Ibrahim Pasha is buried.

Chipmunks and Corn Chowder

Hey Everyone!

What a great day, the sun is out and the weather is perfect. I don't know what is going on with these chipmunks but lately they just love to scamper into the inn for a quick tour. Yesterday I was helping a guest when one ran over my feet. Needless to say both me and the guest jumped when I let out a slight scream. They are adorable though and the kids have a great time chasing them out for me. If you guys would like to enjoy this beautiful weather feel free to take a walk around Lilly lake and come join us for lunch or dinner! With all the calories you burn you'll have no choice but to reward yourself with a slice of our homemade pie! Today our soups are Cowboy Buffalo Stew and my favorite Corn Chowder, yummy! We also have one of my favorite muffins, Banana Butterscotch along with our Green Onion Cream Cheese. This week we also have our very own curator, Cameron presenting the "Summer Enchanted Evenings" where he will talk about a plethora of keys from around the world.
