Good Morning!
It’s a beautiful morning here already at The Baldpate Inn! The sun is shining down all around us while the hummingbirds dance against lovely cloud free blue skies and a gentle wind kisses the aspen leaves as it moves on by. I’m back for my second season and cannot wait to see what it has in store for all of us!
Today our lovely chefs are busy back in the kitchen preparing our soups for the day: Cowboy Buffalo (found in our 2008 Legacy Edition Collections cookbook) and Potato Leek-a staff favorite-myself included. Try either with a homemade slice of Honey Wheat Bread or if you’re in the mood for our mouthwatering Baldpate Corn Bread, you’re in luck as we will be serving it today as well! Our Poppy Seed Muffins along with our Blueberry Muffins are fresh out of the oven and awaiting your arrival. Don’t forget to save room for a slice of homemade pie-cherry and rhubarb are a couple favorites of mine!
Come join us starting at 11:30am today for a bowl or two of our wonderful soups, a plate of salad, our muffins and a slice of pie; before or after taking an adventure through Rocky Mountain National Park, walking around Lily Lake (the ducks have been very active up there) or just spending some time in town! Come on in to meet our wonderful 2009 staff-we’d love to see all of you! If you would like to make a reservation with us-give us a call at 970-586-6151 or toll free at 866-577-5397. You can always find out more about The Baldpate Inn at http://www.baldpateinn.com/
You were born an original. Don’t die a copy. ~John Mason
Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning Estes Park,
It’s another great day in the Rockies. Its going to hit the mid 60s today, so put on that jacket and go hiking. When the rains come this afternoon, stop by The Baldpate Inn for some good home cooked food. If you’re near a phone and want to come by later, we strongly encourage you call us and make a reservation at 970-586-5397.
We've got two delightful soups today:
Red Chili- a staple here at the Baldpate and very hearty
Pumpkin Curry- Indian flavors of curry and pumpkin come together in this delicious soup
We also have two signature muffins today:
Peanut Butter- its like a Peanut Butter cookie, except better
Zucchini Nut- zucchini and pecans blended to make a fantastic muffin
As always we’ll be serving our famous cornbread and Honey Wheat Loaf.
Hope you all have a glorious day out and about, I myself will be hiking the Estes Cone after work today, and if your travels bring you out near Lilly Lake or Highway 7, look for our sign and stop in.
Best wishes,
Cory Meza, Front Desk

Kicking off Summer Enchanted Evenings!!
Good morning! My name is Laura Franklin and I am pleased to be one of the Dining and Event’s Mangers for the 2009 season. We are delighted to announce the kick off of our new series Summer Enchanted Evening on June 3rd! This Wednesday will have a game-show atmosphere and a $25 cash prize for the winning team or individual. So don’t miss out on all the fun!
The series was organized by the Estes Park History Rescue Project, the spokesperson John Meissner says, the talks will be part history, part natural history and part show and tell, with topics ranging form archeology to hummingbirds.
“In some ways, we will be recreating the era of the 1930s and 1940s, when Rocky Mountain National Park rangers and other naturalists toured prominent area lodges and resorts like circuit riders, speaking on a variety of topics,” Meissner said. “The difference is that now we have PowerPoint instead of lantern slides, and will make it easier on everyone by staying at one particular location.”
We are excited for local historians like Sybil Barnes and Duke Sumonia to speak, as well as invited outside specialists. A schedule of topics through the end of July is available at either the Baldpate Inn website or the EPHRP website. It is likely the talks will continue through September, with popular talks repeated and new speakers scheduled! All of the presentations will be held in the Baldpate Inn library beginning at 7:00 p.m. and last 40-45 minutes.
We’ll keep you posted on all of our exciting events for the season and you are always welcome to call 970.586.6151 for more information

Cold weather, Warm soups
Morning all!
Don't knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn't start a conversation if it didn't change once in a while. ~Kin Hubbard
What’s the perfect remedy to another chilly Estes’ day you ask? Why the Baldpate’s crackling fire and daily soups, sure to warm even the coldest of travelers.
Soups and muffins of the day are:
Soups- Cowboy Buffalo, named in part after my very own university, Oklahoma State, and in honor of some of the previous staff that helped to develop this hearty stew.
Broccoli cheese, which couldn’t be better for a day like today. Its full flavor and yummy goodness will warm even the chilliest of bellies!
Muffins- Lemon ginger, featured in Bon Appetit magazine, and maybe my favorite thus far.
All Bran, a healthy alternative as well as a perfect muffin to pair with one of our soups.
In addition to our soups and muffins we will also be having our honey wheat loaf and our locally favored cornbread.
Just writing about all this delicious food is making me hungry for lunch already and it’s still breakfast time! Please come out and join us for a cozy soup and muffin day at the Baldpate. For reservations please call us at 866-577-5397. We look forward to your visit!
Thanks from the front desk,
Katie Emard

Good Morning Baldpate,
It’s another beautiful day in the Rockies, all be it on the chilly side, so if you’re out and about outside, remember to pack a jacket to keep warm. If you happen to need some food to warm you up and fill your belly, come on by! We’re on Highway 7 right across from Lilly Lake, between mile markers 6 and 7. Business here is really picking up with the great days of summer ahead, so we encourage that you make reservations either through our website, baldpateinn.com, or call us at 970-586-5397.
Locals know us as the best soup and salad buffet in Estes, and probably beyond, and we keep that reputation by keeping our menu fresh and delicious.
Today’s Soups and Muffins:
Soups: White Chili- A lighter alternative to the more tomato based Red Chiles, still as
every bit delicious made with chicken and white beans
Garden Vegetable- a lovely blend of vegetables prepped daily for this soup. This
This soup is perfect for those who are vegetarians or vegans.
Muffin:
Blueberry- a classic that needs no introduction
Banana Butterscotch- when I asked what I should write to describe the Banana
Butterscotch Muffin she told me, “BEST MUFFINS EVER” Lois knows muffins, I’ll take her word.
Best wishes from the Front Desk,
Cory Meza

Good Morning Blogosphere,
Happy May 24th to all. The summer season here at the Baldpate is just getting started but already it has all the markings of being something special, so give us a call at 970-586-5397 and join our growing family of guests.
It's another glorious morning in Estes Park and we've got some food to get you ready for all the hiking or whatever activities you've got planned for the day:
Soups: Beef Stew- a classic dish made with beef and garden vegetables in a hearty borth
Corn Chowder- A blend of potatoes, onions, and bits of corn
Muffins: Poppyseed- a muffin everyone knows, but the Baldpate's chefs put their own mark it
Green Onion Cream Cheese- a muffin that certainly wins points for creativity, but also
has the flavor to back itself up
As a somber reminder, because we are serving Corn Chowder today, we will not be serving our cornbeard as a side, in its stead we will be serving Buttermilk Bran Muffin.
We hope you will come and join us today for lunch, we open at 11:30pm, or for dinner and experience the Baldpate's charm.

Getting in the swing of things!
Good Morning Baldpate friends!
After a smooth start on opening day we are now working to get things rolling into a fabulous summer season. My name is Katie Emard and I am a front desk associate from Oklahoma State University. This is my first opportunity to visit beautiful Estes Park, but I am already prepared to call it home after realizing my very first impression was “everyone is so nice!” I can’t wait to do a little exploring downtown and meet more great people.
Today’s soups are Potato Leek, which I have heard is a local favorite, and our delicious Red Chili, which is featured in our 2008 Legacy Edition Collections Cookbook.
Our Muffins of the day are Oatmeal Blues and Zucchini Dill (featured in Bon Appetit Magazine).
Please come out to visit us; we can’t wait to share with you the charm of the Baldpate and to introduce you to our new staff! It looks like it is going to be a great season full of good food and happy memories, two things that go hand in hand for me.
Call us for reservations at 970-586-6151. We are open from 11:30 to 8:00.
Have a great day!

Opening Day 2009
Good Morning Baldpate Guests and Enthusiasts,
Happy Opening Day 2009! After a chilly winter and snowy spring the Baldpate Inn is now opening for our summer season. My name is Cory Meza and its an honor to write the first blog of the new season. I am a local Colorado Boy from Colorado Springs, so Rocky Mountain National Park is a second home for me, and now in some weird full circle manner I am spending my summer working here at the splendid Baldpate Inn. And now, pardon the pun, to the meat of the blog. I know you have been anxiously awaiting the Soup and Muffin selection of the day and here it is:
Soups- Cowboy Buffalo Stew: A hearty stew made with real Buffalo meat and loads of
Vegetables to fill you up.
Broccoli and Cheese: A classic dish with fresh broccoli in a homemade cheese soup
Muffins- Zucchini Nut: A blend of fresh zucchini and nuts to create a delicious savory muffin.
Onion Garlic: While at first the idea of Onion and Garlic in a muffin sounds more than intimidating, our chefs make it so that both come together to make a treat without being overwhelming.
All of us here at The Baldpate Inn look forward to seeing you and invite you to come join the large growing family that has experienced dinner on the Sun Porch, breakfast in the lodge, the views of the parks, and our famous homemade Pies.
So give us a call at 970-586-5397 for reservations.
