Wedding Photo Shoot

Good morning!

Yesterday proved to be quite an experience as we had photographers taking mock wedding pictures at the Baldpate Inn. I was chosen to be the groom for the pictures and the photographers brought along the bride. I have to admit it was quite hilarious to see everyone’s reaction as they walked past. We heard “congratulations” from many people and then had to disappoint them by saying it was just a mock wedding. Sorry to anyone we disappointed yesterday!

Soups of the Day: Red Chili and Potato Leek

Muffins of the Day: Zucchini Nut and Triple Cheese

Reservations are highly recommended, even as we approach the later parts of our season. Reservations can be made through our website (http://www.baldpateinn.com/dining.asp) or by phone at 970-586-5397.

Good Morning!

Well it appears that all the snow that was in the forecast for last night never arrived. A winter storm warning was issued last night and said that elevations above 7000 feet could expect anywhere from 6 to 16 inches of snow. With the Baldpate Inn sitting around 9000 feet, we were expecting to see a few inches of snow by this morning. While we have awoken to some chilly weather, the snow has strayed from the Estes Valley. There is still a chance of snow throughout this afternoon, but as of now, we are all clear at the Baldpate Inn.

Soups of the Day: Red Chili and Potato Leek

Muffins of the Day: Tropical Paradise (my personal favorite) and Cranberry Nut

According to rumors in the kitchen, it sounds like we’ll be having Beef Stew and Corn Chowder tomorrow.

Reservations are highly recommended and can be made by phone (970-586-5397) or through our website at http://www.baldpateinn.com/dining.asp.

Elk Bugling

Good Morning!

The fall season brings a unique chance to view elk in the Estes Valley. From mid-September and into early October, the mating season for elk takes place. This is a tremendous opportunity to see elk not only in Rocky Mountain National Park, but all around the Estes Valley. The distinctive mating call of the bull elk, also referred to as bugling, is most often heard from early dusk until dawn.

If you’re in town for this wonderful experience, stop by the Baldpate Inn for a meal or a simple visit to our key collection. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made on our website (http://www.baldpateinn.com/dining.asp) or by phone (970-586-5397).

Good Morning!

The aspen leaves are slowly beginning to change as we push further into September. I was walking around Lily Lake yesterday and you could really see the pockets of golden-yellow leaves on Twin Sisters. The aspens near the Baldpate are started to get some small yellow spots on them so they look to be changing soon as well.

Soups & Muffins

Good Morning!

A crisp breeze is making it a bit chilly up here at The Baldpate Inn this lovely Sunday morning as the sun tries to peek through the cloud cover hovering over the valley. Only a few hummingbirds remain dancing amongst their surroundings so be sure head on up to catch one of your last chances to see these fast-paced birds before they migrate for the winter to a warmer climate.

Our fine chefs are preparing for your arrival! They are making Cowboy Buffalo Stew with its "wild west trail drive" flavors (come in to found out why the word cowboy has a special double meaning in relation to this tasty soup) and Potato Leek (one of my favorites) to warm your soul. Pair either of our delicious soups with our mouth-watering Baldpate Corn Bread or our homemade Honey Wheat Bread (you can make both of these breads at home as they are found in our 2008 Legacy Edition Collections cookbook). This happens to be the 17th year our Peanut Butter Muffins have been tantalizing our guests' tastebuds and a big thanks to Jenn for insisting the Zucchini Nut Muffins had to be added to the menu as they are a staff and guest favorite alike. Did you know September is Apple Month? There would be no better way to celebrate then with a delicious slice of our scrumptious Scandinavian Apple pie!

The chefs are keeping the soups for tomorrow's menu a secret for the time being.

Join us today for any of our wonderful buffet items! Thinking about taking a hike? Ask any of us where to go-I went on a wonderful hike on my day off last week! To make reservations either call us at 970-586-6151 or toll-free 866-577-5397 or reserve a spot online http://www.baldpateinn.com/dining.asp -we'd love to see you today!

Unique Views of the Mountains

Good morning!

It looks as though even Colorado is feeling the effects of the wildfires in California. A haze was cast over the Estes Valley yesterday and continues to remain today. This is due to the amount of smoke being created by the wildfires. While the smell of smoke is extremely faint, it certainly has created a unique view of the mountains in the distance.

Come join us for lunch or dinner today and see for yourself this unique view of the mountains that the smoky haze has created. I can certainly say I haven’t seen anything like it so far this summer. Reservations are always recommended and can be made by phone (970-586-5397) or on our website by following this link http://www.baldpateinn.com/dining.asp.

Soups of the day: Red Chili and Broccoli Cheese

First Day Of September!

Good Morning!

It's shaping up to be a beautiful first day of September this morning here at The Baldpate Inn! A cool-crisp breeze gently touches everything as it passes while the sun's golden rays promise to melt away the fine fog that surrounded us earlier today. Don't miss out on your chance to see the hummingbirds as they are starting to migrate for the winter months.

Cowboy Buffalo Stew (worry not we use bison meat-not cowboys) along with Potato Leek (one of my favorites) happen to be the enticing soups our lovely chefs are back in the kitchen preparing! Our mouth-watering Baldpate Corn Bread as well as our homemade Honey Wheat Bread are being served too. Remember to try the muffins found right beside our other breads-today we are having Jenn's Nutty Zucchini Muffins and savory Triple Cheese Muffins! Our speciality salads are not to be missed and neither are the homemade pies! Remember you can always take a slice of pie with you....if you happen to be too full.

Visit Rocky Mountain National Park, walk around Lily Lake or stroll around town before or after joining us here anytime between 11:30am and 8:00pm today! I would always recommend a reservation: call us at 970-568-6151 or toll-free 866-577-5397. You can also make one online through OpenTable by going to our website http://www.baldpateinn.com/dining.asp -we look forward to your arrival!

The chefs revealed the rumored soups for tomorrow: Red Chili and Broccoli Cheese.

While you're here make sure to check out the World's Largest Key Collection! You too can donate a key-stop by the front desk to learn more.

It takes a steady hand to draw the colours of the first morning. Take slow, deep breaths before you start coloring your day.

Have a wonderful first day of September!
