Unexpected Lunch Guest

Good Morning from a sunny Estes Park!

Our beautiful summer weather continues to hold off the cooler fall temperatures as we look to be full of sunshine and blue skies this afternoon.

An unexpected guest joined us yesterday for lunch. A hummingbird flew into the lobby and has decided to make his new home on the lights above our main entryway. While we’ve had hummingbirds fly into our lodge from time to time, most of them have found their way back outside after a few minutes. This hummingbird, however, decided to perch above the lights all night and is still “lodging” with us this morning.

If you’re looking for an enticing evening activity, join us for dinner and our weekly “Summer Enchanted Evenings” program tonight. The discussion will be begin at 7:00 PM in our library so be sure to give yourself and extra hour or two if you’re planning on dining with us. As always, we certainly recommend reservations which can be made by phone (970-586-KEYS) or online at our website (www.baldpateinn.com).

Soups of the day: Cowboy Buffalo Stew and Potato Leek

Muffins of the day: Zucchini Nut and Trail Mix

Also, the rumor in the kitchen is that we’ll be having Beef Stew and Cream of Mushroom tomorrow.

Take care,

Eric Knapke

Good Morning Estes Park,

Cory Meza here at the Front Desk for the last time this season. I would like to thank all our customers for coming and joining us for either lunch, dinner, or staying with us in the Inn. The service industry is reliant on our guests, and I would like to say that the Baldpate Inn has been truly blessed by all of you this season. To my coworkers, I love all the patience you showed me, and the support to get me where I am now.
If you haven’t been to The Baldpate Inn and this is your first time reading the blog, you are invited to come on by and see what we have to offer. Estes locals know us for our Soup and Salad buffet, and we try to keep our reputation up by switching out the buffet daily, making everything homemade, and using fresh ingredients. We never know how busy we are going to be in the dining room, and that’s why we highly encourage making reservations in advance. If you know when you would like to come up, give us a call at 970-586-6151.
Now to the main point of this blog.
Soups: White Chili and Garden Vegetable. Our Garden Vegetable soup is the best vegetable soup that I have ever tasted.

Muffins: Blueberry, a classic made better by the chefs at the Baldpate. Along with them are the Ol’ faithful All-bran muffins.

Right now the chefs are still in conference over the soups for tomorrow, stay tuned for details.

Mercy, Peace and Love be yours in Abundance. Jude 1:2

August 15th-Soups & Muffins

Good Morning!

It's shaping up to be another beautiful day here at The Baldpate Inn! The hummingbirds are already out and about dancing amongst a blue sky speckled with wisps of clouds while the sun continues to play hide-and-seek with our beautiful surroundings and a slight, cool breeze kisses the aspen leaves as it passes. On Thursday Chelsea and I hiked to the top of Twin Sisters to watch the sunrise-it was beautiful!

Today our wonderful chefs are back in the kitchen busily preparing for your arrival. Come in today to enjoy a bowl or two of our tantalizing soups: Cowboy Buffalo Stew (just one of the many recipes found in our 2008 Legacy Edition Collections cookbook) or Tomato Rice. A great addition to either of our soups would be a hearty slice of our homemade Honey Wheat Bread or our famous mouth-watering Baldpate Corn Bread! If you are having a hard time choosing-share with a dining partner! We are also serving our savory Green Onion Cream Cheese Muffins along with the Oatmeal Blues (they'll leave you anything but blue and happen to be one of my favorites)! Don't forget about our tasty specialty salads. Remember to save room for pie-I'd recommend the cherry or rhubarb.

Stop by anytime today between 11:30am and 8:00pm-before or after driving through Rocky Mountain National Park, spending some time in town, or taking a stroll around Lily Lake (the ducks are out by the dozens)-we'd love to have you! I strongly recommend reservations by calling 970-586-6151 or toll-free 866-577-5397. We love to add your key to our collection-we have the world's largest!

Our last performance of Sevens Keys to Baldpate is today-we've had wonderful performances and great crowds! We are sold out-however-if you missed your chance to see it here Encore! Encore! will be preforming it again in Fort Collins August 28th-30th.

Some exciting news was just passed my way: Estes Park along with WTW (Walter Tishma Way) will be featured tonight at 6:30pm on channel 4 news! Be sure to check it out-watch for The Baldpate Inn!

After digging around in the back I finally discovered the rumored soups for tomorrow: Red Chili and Broccoli Cheese.

Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within the reach of every hand. ~Mother Teresa

Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning Estes Park,

Cory Meza here at the front desk and wishing you all a great morning in the Rocky Mountains. If you are looking for a great hike this morning, I suggest making your way to Sky Pond. From the Bear Lake trail head, take the trail towards Glacier Gorge, and at the giant fork in the trail go right towards the Loch Vale; sky pond is the last of the lakes you’ll hike to. It’s a lovely day for hiking so wherever you go be sure to pack an extra water bottle and sunscreen.
Now we would like to give special recognition to one of our guests. Our guests have made the Baldpate Inn what it is today and we grow to know our regulars. One man has become more than just a regular and more like a resident at this point. Jim Huebner from Fort Collins, Colorado has been coming to The Baldpate Inn for eighteen years now. This means that only Lois herself has come back more times! We are very honored that he would choose us for so many years. We here at the Baldpate want to extend our gratitude to the entire Huebner family.
Many people come up to Baldpate for our lovely soup and salad buffet, but are surprised to learn that we’re also a Bed and Breakfast. If you would like to come join us for lunch and check out the rooms yourself, we’re located about 6 miles outside of Estes Park on highway 7. For dining we always encourage reservations, so give us a call at 970-586-6151.
We here at The Baldpate Inn don’t have a set menu, because we love to switch up the buffet to keep it nice and fresh, here is the menu for today:
Soups: White Chili and Potato Cheese. Potato Cheese makes its debut today, and we’re excited to see what y’all think of it.

Muffins: Lemon Ginger and All-bran. All bran muffins are deceivingly sweet and moist, so come on by and try one.

Now this comes from the chefs in the back and tomorrow looks like Beef Stew and Pumpkin Curry.

We also are looking forward to another night in our Summer Enchanted Evening Series. The Estes Park History Savers do a great job of presenting something uniquely Estes Park every Wednesday and we look forward to their expertise once again. The lecture starts around 7pm tonight so come up and make it a night out on the town with a dinner reservation before hand.

Have a great day,

Also tonight we are looking forward to another great Summer Enchanted Evenings Lecture. Our summer enchanted evenings program has been running since the beginning of summer and takes place every wednesday night here at the Baldpate Inn. Good Morning Baldpateians,

Its a glorious day here on Twin Sisters Mountain, the sun is out so go out and hike! I suggest going up to Sandbeach Lake. The trail starts at the Copeland Lake Trailhead, which is located right at the entrance to the Wild Basin entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park, it also means you don't have to pay the entrance fee. Great views and a secluded feeling make this hike well worth it.

Before we go any further we here at the Baldpate Inn want to emphatically thank Encore! Encore! for another stunning round of performances of Seven Keys to Baldpate this weekend. If you haven't heard, the Baldpate Inn is presenting the play of the novel we take our name after. This door slamming, plot twisting, gut splitting farce is perfect for a night out with the family. We've only got two performances left, August 14th and 15th, so call us at 970-586-6151 for ticket information.

If you want to come up today, or any other day, we will have our delicious soup and salad buffet all ready for you to enjoy. Today we have an all-star line up and it is certainly not something to be missed. If you know when you are coming up today, gives us at call at the number above for reservations, or if you are a little more tech savvy, you can go through our dining page and make a reservation directly.

Soups: Cowboy Buffalo Stew and Corn Chowder. Two of the most favorite soups from the Baldpate Kitchens on the same day? Yes indeed folks.

Muffins: Chocolate Mystery and Lemon Blueberry. If you can't guess the secret ingredient in the Chocolate Mystery Muffins, you can cheat and look it up in our cookbook, which besides offering some of the favorite recipes from the Baldpate, it has great information on the key collection and our history.

Sorry folks our chefs are still arguing over which soups they want for tomorrow, my bet is it will be very good.

To You and Yours,

Cory Meza, Front Desk

Good Morning all,

After a week of rainy weather, I am excited to finally say it looks like the sun is going to come out and pay us a visit. Since our "7 Keys to Baldpate" play is an outdoor production, we have been lucky enough to have dodged the rain during show times, but we are all ready to not worry so much about it. Today's 2pm production should be beautiful, warm, and sunny for all that plan on attending.

In honor of today's fabulous weather, The Baldpate Inn will be serving our delicious Red Chili and Broccoli Cheese soups, along with our, Trail Mix and Banana Butterscotch muffins. What a "souperior" lineup! And if that isn't enough to get you excited, you can count on getting a piece of our famous cornbread or one of our homemade pies.

If you can't make it out today, rest assured that tomorrow will be just as delicious when we serve our Cowboy Buffalo Stew and our Corn Chowder. MmmMmm!

As always Baldpaters, thanks for reading!
